Is Dragon Age: Origins still a viable game to play in 2014?

I have never played this game, but I played the second and it was awful. Now I know many people say the first is a much better game, but is it still a good game today? If I liked Mass Effect, is this as good or better?

Still? It's only five years old...

Also yes, it's pretty good and almost unambiguously better than DA2.

Well, I found the game quite boring and I normally like these types of games. I suggest you look some PC gameplay videos up and make up your mind from there.

No. You didn't play it when it was new. You will never play it. Go away.

Why do people keep using the word viable. It never works when talking about games.

DA:O is nothing like mass effect. Didn't even have the dialogue donut.

It's a bit like a plot driven MMORPG without the other players.
Which I think is pretty much what everyone wants.

I beat origins a couple of times, really enjoyed it.

I'm in act 3 in DA 2, haven't touched it in awhile. I'll struggle through the rest eventually. maybe.

There isn't ever going to come a point where DA:O is no longer a "viable" game to play. It was made prior to the fall of Bioware and it's a classic that will stand the test of time like it should.

This. Every time I encounter that word used in a question, its incorrect. Every.single.time. They always use it as an erroneous synonym for "good" or "effective".
