Opinion on the new Battlefield?

It's fun but I'm not paying $60 for what's basically just a mod for Battlefield 3.

So the community de facto does not exist and the people blathering about what modders could replicate should stop inflicting their prattling upon the world until such time as someone actually starts doing. We deal in realities, not potentialities.

Reality? The reality is that Battlefield players really aren't any different than Call of Duty players, and at the very core--neither is the game. That said, you're seriously asking why modders haven't set out to make a Battlefield clone? For the same reason they haven't set out to make a Call of Duty clone, either.

If modders created such a thing, who would even play it? It could be the greatest game in the world, but it wouldn't have the Battlefield or Call of Duty names on it, and the types of people that play these games are the types of people who care about those names. It's also why Hardline is essentially guaranteed to sell over a million copies, regardless of how hilariously bad it may be.

I feel the concept is not too bad. However, not much different to the other BF games to justify the price.

The fact people complain about it being little more than a mod rather than outright dismissing it as not being of interest infers that they would in fact be interested in a competent independently built mod. But yes, you are correct about the psychological value of the name, which is why Bad Company and Hard line share the Battlefield prefix.

Oh, and there are literally tons of CoD clones out there. They just fall short of the ghost of the series high points. Like it or not, CoD4 really was that important to everything that followed and might be as perfect a game for its time period and genre as could reasonably be expected to exist.

Didn't BF4 just come out? Shouldn't they be working on fixing that first?

The series has gone down the path that caters to the CoD audience. Shame, but it's true.

This is EA's opportunity to offer digital currency for your real money. Whoever thought of it must have got a promotion.

Fun, but not worth $60. Feels like an overpriced expansion to BF4.

Saw someone playing it. It's an extremely dull game.

Meh. Should be a standalone DLC. Not a full fledged full price title.
