I'm curious: what's wrong with Absolution?

It makes certain aspects of gameplay easier with its instinct mechanic, it tones the level design way down, and it ruins the disguise mechanic.

A lot of people will tell you that Absolution is a good game, but a bad Hitman game.

Pretty good description. I've played all the Hitman games and oddly enough, Absolution is the one I've played the most because it has

1) Amazing graphics
2) Contracts mode which is really unique to Hitman style
3) Challenge. This game is pretty difficult at times to get silent assasin ratings

I think contracts mode makes up for the faults listed in the quote above. Its my favorite Hitman game because of it.

Nothing is wrong with Absolution. It's just that the people who played the older games when they were first released are butthurt about it because "It's not old."

Catch my drift? It's a good game.

Why do people always do this?

Weird disguise system
Small levels
Broken checkpoint system
Magic pockets (you can now hide long barrel weapons in your pants...)
No weapon collection room/pre-mission loadout selection

A few major reasons Absolution gets a lot of flak compared to the older Hitman titles. It's still a good game imo, but it DOES have issues and I understand the dislike for it that many have.

I'd recommend it though (good gunplay, satisfying stealth, funny enemy dialogue, lengthy campaign, gorgeous graphics), but I would recommend Blood Money and Hitman 2 first, if you're looking for more of the traditional Hitman style.

Eh, went ahead and bought it. Only $4, so that seems to be a pretty good deal.
