I ended up going with a compromise and I am getting a laptop with a touch screen instead.

I'm going with the Refurbished aspire m5-m83p-6637...

Not a bad choice. Screen is a little gross (too low rez for me) but I think you picked a decent laptop.

I think I'll definitely need a screen cleaner for this. But the laptop itself is very cool.

I think the think pad tablet 3 that is coming out soon is pretty good. Although, that one might be a bit out of your price range.

The Think Pad 8 with bay trail has really good specs, and is about 8 inches.

I also used the Dell Venue Pro 8 for a few months and that one was really great for me too. It should be within your budget for sure. I only returned it reluctantly because I decided to wait until Cherry Trail processors come out, but besides that, it did everything my laptop could. It had the full Windows 8 OS as well.

Asus T100.

Windows 8 tablets are the best tablets on the market right now. You get an actual operating system. Not an OS that is only good for media consumption (iOS/Android).

Ultrabooks>>>>tablets. Unless you're getting a surface pro 3 tablet I'd say you should go ultrabooks or bust.
