If you're about to buy a i7 4790K, please wait for the i7 5820K instead

oh come on......i expected to buy an entirely new setup next week and i've already postponed it many times.

it's not so much the processor as it is mobos supporting ddr4... since ddr3 will probably be obsolete quickly after release the price will be insanely high in a year or two if i decide to add some more.

hell shoving something like 16GB in it right now doesn't seem like the best idea either.

gee thx TC >_>.

PC hardware doesn't need to match console hardware in price when PC gamers save literal thousands from the software they buy.

This happens almost every time in PC hardware.
Just bite your lip and push that purchase button.

yea i wouldn't get more than 8GB of ddr3 at the moment, by the time you'll need more, it's time for an upgrade anyways, just get some low latency stuff and/or overclock the crap out of it, and you'll be golden till it's time to make the next jump

it's falling back on the out logic of it's better to buy 2 $1000 systems 3 years apart than trying to use a $2000 system for 5 years without upgrading

Why should I care about having two more cores that no programs or games will make use of?

Just wait for the DDR 5 set and GTX 990 I heard it will have much better performance.

Current DDR4 modules are garbage. The latency on them is horrible (CL15 and above). The only real benefit DDR4 has is lower power comsumption and bigger sticks. It'll be a long time before it's worth buying over DDR3 (certainly for gaming anyway).
