Looking at a gaming laptop for $700

The laptop in question is a MSI gx70 with the AMD A-10 5750m and the 8970m. Decent deal. The thing is pretty much new.

C'mon, bro. You know better. There's dudes that come up in here that got no spec knowledge. You got this solid desktop and you want some dwarf child poop laptop.

Well bud I can't bring the Desktop to work or my friends houses easily. I need something that can play Dark Souls 2 decent and maybe some Civ 5.

Add another 500 and you can get something pretty nice.

To answer your question, civ 5 will run fine. Dark souls 2 should be completely playable, just don't expect stable frame rate or high graphic settings.

Edit: If my quick Google results are correct, the gpu should perform about 15% under a 660ti.

Nah nothing like my desktop, I don't expect that. I just need something cheap that will play games fine.
