Aside from the change to a Z97 board which has been recommended, that is pretty good. Those suggesting a drop to a i7 4770K, why? It is only $10 less than according to pcpartpicker. Personally I'd go with what you have there TC, if you could squeeze out SLI 780tis, that would be great, you'll be about $200 over budget though.

It's all fine but get a gsync monitor! Seriously I'm dying for one but 1200p 60fps editions haven't arrived.

I can't find the recommended Z97 board for the life of me. Could you link the specific board? Thanks.

Asus has a really nice z97 workstation board. I'd get the new Intel chip, not he 4770k. The new one has better thermals.

I'd get 32gb of GSkill ram (that's just me) hours will depend on how much of a workstation this really is.

780TI is really what is try for....if you can. If not then 780s will work..I guess :p

At least a 256gb ssd and for me...two 1 Tb hard drives in raid.

This is the current build I have.....

Is that the CPU you are talking about? Also I agree about the 780ti's, but the trick is finding room for them in the budget ( I don't want to go to far over budget). Also would you recommend the Asus Z97 over the one I have right now? The PC will be mostly for gaming, but I could see myself doing video editing (ie for YouTube).

Also, I don't know if you can answer this, but what do you think of the gsync monitor suggestion? Worth it? Also would the monitor be comparable with something like a PS3?

I didn't read the thread, but I'm assuming someone recommended an SSD.

So I agree with that person.

Just go to Alienware and pick anything, you'll hit $3,000 just by typing the URL.
