Fallout 1 mod recommendations?

#1jestsman5ianPosted 7/3/2014 6:28:28 AM
I'm about to start the game for the first time and want to make sure I'm playing the best version. What mods should I look into in order to update the game and make it as viable as possible?

I'll be playing on a 4-core, Windows 8, widescreen system with dedicated Nvidia graphics.

Also, not sure if this is relevant or not but I have the Steam version of Fallout 1. Not sure if they updated the game at all prior to releasing it on Steam which might affect what mods I should get.

Step 1. Never use the word viable again. You clearly don't know how to use it correctly.

Step 2. Use these mods. I suggest the patches and the NPC mod. http://falloutmods.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_1_Mods

Steam updated the game with widescreen resolutions, so you won't need any of that.

So you're saying my use of the word viable was not a viable use of the word?

Also, thanks for the info. I'll dig into those tonight after work.

No. It is it not and will never be.

Also you're still using it wrong.

Man, you're just setting him up so he can burn you the way he burned SpazH3d!! Or, dare I say you're setting him up to... viable you?

P.S. He used the word correctly in both instances. This might help clear things up for you:

vi·a·ble
[vahy-uh-buhl]
adjective
1.
capable of living.
2.
Physiology .
a.
physically fitted to live.
b.
(of a fetus) having reached such a stage of development as to be capable of living, under normal conditions, outside the uterus.
3.
Botany . able to live and grow.
4.
vivid; real; stimulating, as to the intellect, imagination, or senses: a period of history that few teachers can make viable for students.
5.
practicable; workable: a viable alternative.

No, no he didn't. None of the definitions match any of what he said unless you try to stretch them to such a great extent almost no one would agree.

I regret using the word viable because now 75% of the responses in this thread have nothing to do with Fallout mods.

Back on topic please?

For all your child murdering needs. http://www.nma-fallout.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=569

Seriously, without this mod, your game will be void of children.

This mod also seems pretty fabulous. http://www.nma-fallout.com/showthread.php?194562

— adj
1. capable of becoming actual, useful, etc; practicable: a viable proposition

5. practicable; workable: a viable alternative.

"Practicable" and "Workable." Both of those words apply in the contexts he used. "Practicable" means "Usable." So, his sentence could essentially be read as "What mods should I look into in order to update the game and make it as usable as possible?"

If you have any questions, let me know! Always glad to help when it comes to language.

As for Fallout mods, I think they were really answered in the first reply.
