Former console gamers, why did you switch to PC gaming?

I didnt. PC gaming is great and i love indie stuff like Rust but consoles will always be the king.

I was a Nintendo fan that was increasingly disappointed with their lack of 3rd party support and weak consoles as of lately. I loved their 1st party experience but had to start admitting their shortcomings. However, I didn't want to cough up for another console if I could avoid it. Then I got into college and got a laptop mostly for school work. My friends introduced me to the joys of Steam. So then when my dad needed a laptop, he offered to buy mine off of me so I could get a better laptop for myself, so I ended up getting a "gaming" laptop seeing how I moved around a lot going to different rooms to game with my friends. Finally come this summer I saved up enough to make a serious build. I was never a "console gamer" in that sense I guess so much as I was a Nintendo gamer that got into PC games later on.

Always wanted a gaming PC; had the money to do so, so I did. Not to mention the current consoles having a very lackluster title selection currently. I do plan on getting a PS4 around when Destiny comes out though because that game looks awesome.

I switched to PC gaming because of the ability to change the settings at a more advanced level, it is more immersive, and it's more fun.

My favorite games are shooters and RPGs, better graphics, better controls, mods and cheats.

Cheaper games
Better controls (kb/m mainly) and more options (every possible controller, wheel, joysticks, whatever)
Better graphics (much higher resolutions, antialiasing, etc)
Better gameplay (due to framerates)
Mods
A lot more games of my favorite and most played genres (rts, mmos)
Multiplayer not behind a paywall
Emulation of almost the entire console library (I dont felt morally wrong about it, and dont care about what anyone think about it) with enhanced graphics
Online multiplayer for emulated games
Mods for emulated games

Because I graduated college and started making good money, then realized PC gaming on a nice rig was the best gaming experience available and wanted the best.

Much more JRPG's on PC than there are on console.

Really? The reason I was going to keep my PS3 was because I thought it had more JRPG's than PC.

It does, good ones at least. It is also why I got a PS4. Who cares about power, it is about the experiences. You can go drive a 1959 Corvette and it is as gutless as a prius but the experience makes it worth it.

I can't think of any Prius with close to 300 hp. And even though it's old it's still very nimble and quick out of turns. I can't recall it's quarter mile but I'm sure it's about 14. So I think your analogy fails.
