Former console gamers, why did you switch to PC gaming?

Once I realized that PCs are now getting console games with better everything. Only console I pay attention to anymore is whatever Nintendo is bringing out.

I was tired of the crappy people on XBL.

Until I get 90% of the games I love on the PC I'll still be a handheld console and PC gamer

I originally made the jump because i wasn't happy that new systems were coming out when i was content with the current ones. After that i couldn't help ignore all the benefits that came with a PC. Better graphics, better compatibility with older games, mod support and i don't have to pay to game online. The only downside i would say is that its rather hard to get my friends to join the PC gaming experience with me, they're just so stuck on consoles.

cause the gap between each console gen keeps getting smaller and smaller, and the difference in power between xbone/ps4 and their predecessors is pathetic.

now if you'll excuse me i'm off to buy one of those because of those god damn exclusives...

Because I graduated college and started making good money, then realized PC gaming on a nice rig was the best gaming experience available and wanted the best.

Pretty much this. I loved my consoles as a kid and I still enjoy the occasional exclusive, but PC is superior in nearly every imaginable way. If you can afford the initial cost, it's without question worth it in the long run.

I used to play consoles as much as on PC.

Then last gen, consoles stopped being a different platform and started being a junior platform. It used to be that consoles were better for Japanese games and PCs were better for Western games. Consoles for platformers, JRPGs and party games and PC for RPGs, shooters and strategy games.

Now PCs are for everything and consoles are for people who are stuck in the past. They're just weak PCs with much, much worse libraries.

Primarily because of ability to mod games. I've always been a gamer at heart and so I've owned just about every console as well as games on PC most of my life. Within the past few years, due to the elder scroll games and mmo's (when I played them) I made the switch to primarily pc gaming.

I still have a ps3 but it's been regulated to a netflix box with some light gaming with the kids.

Because "HD consoles" looked pretty suck after a while, and PC gaming was a convenient alternative that was considerably less crappy.

My PC gaming used to be limited to RTS games like Starcraft and Warcraft III. I didn't start playing other stuff until my friend convinced me to get Counter-strike: Source, then I just got used to the controls over time.
