Can I get away with a GT 840 for light to moderate gaming?

I don't play the newest FPS games or anything. The newest games I'd be playing would be Original Sin, Pillars of Eternity, Wasteland 2, and some other kickstarter RPG's.

The rest of the games I'd be playing would be from the mid to late 2000's.

Thinking about getting this (need a new laptop)

I'd get this one instead: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834313743

If you can stretch your budget a little I'd get this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834313742

What is your max budget?

Welllll, I'm willing to splurge and go up to $1300, but only if necessary. For instance, this is $1300 and I'm highly considering it because it's stats look great and it's reviews are great

But I'm not sure if it will be "worth it" so to speak.

i think you can get a laptop with 870m around that price point, which should be a good step up over the 860m

also i've seen that laptop at $1200

any idea where? It's same price on Amazon.

edit: The 870m seems to be 1400+, that would push me wayyy out of price range.

Seems to be in stock on the US site, but not the UK site for me.

I dunno, you may want to consider one of these. Pretty much the same stats but a little cheaper.

I second the Lenovo recommendation.

yeah I was highly considering the Lenovo, but it only has 4 stars on Newegg (the 1300 one I posted had like 4.5), and reviewers listed a few cons..

edit: one such con being a 5400 RPM hard drive, no optical, and some others. Also 15 inch screen vs. 17 inch.

Not sure if it's worth the extra 250 for 17 inch screen, 7200 RPM, and optical drive.
