What does smooth 120fps look like?

It's seeing and feeling. You just have to try one for yourself.

Its hard to judge by just watching youtube videoes but can you really see difference between 60FPS and 120FPS. Stuff looks pretty smooth at 60 already.

60 fps to 75 fps is already pretty noticeable

most monitors can pull off 75Hz at lower resolutions and there's no real problem i'm aware of to force 75+Hz on native res, it doesn't hurt to try it.

Sure, that's true. But Hertz is also units/second.

trust me you can. You think 60hz is smooth, I use 144hz and when I switch back to 60hz everything feels so sluggish. If you're accustomed to 60hz obviously that's going to be your standard but just use 120hz for a few days and you'll notice a huge difference. And yes, I said 120HZ not 120fps. It's your monitor's frequency that matters, not the fps. If you have a 60hz monitor, it won't matter if you go above 60fps because your monitor is probably not rendering anything past 60fps. It's when your monitor is 120hz+ with 120fps+ that you'll see the big difference.

Hz is your monitor's refresh rate. You require 120 Hz to show 120 FPS. If you have a 60 Hz monitor, you cannot see more than 60 FPS, and I don't mean that in an "human eye can't see" bulls*** stance. I mean your hardware is physically limited to 60 FPS or less.

Now, you are correct that we did not get his benchmarks for CS:GO and don't actually know for certain that he was running 120 FPS, but I think he knows his system better than you do, and I'm going to go on a limb here and say he was probably running that stuff at 120 FPS.

It doesn't "look" that much different from 60fps, but it is noticeable. It "feels" more snappier in gameplay.
