Anybody want to talk about Divinity: Original Sin a bit more?

I get part of the negativity, but honestly I can't think of another CRPG made in the last 10 years I would rather play right now than D:OS.

Sure, the late 90s/early 2000s classics have stood the test of time for a reason, but one can't live solely of the past.

The writing in D:OS is very original, with a lot of weird cultural references, while mixing serious and silly tones.

The combat system is very polished. One could argue that they prefer a more inspired tale like Fallout 1 in terms of writing, but as far as the action goes, there's no arguing that D:OS improves upon past CRPGs in a BIG way.

I think writing off D:OS as a imitation of old CRPGs is not giving credit where it's due. Larian Studios is a developer that has been around for 18 years, has released 11 games and the latest one is by far the best thing they ever made. I see that as a huge accomplishment because it's very hard to keep improving over time and challenging yourself.

These dudes have really come a long way and I think they deserve the praise D:OS is getting.

This board seems more active about D:OS than the actual board itself.

Someone hasn't played Temple of Elemental Evil or JAgged Alliance 2, let alone with their respective Co8 and 1.13 uber-overhauls

go back to tilling soil and tending livestock .

I played the JA games a lot, actually. They are awesome, but D:OS is a completely different animal. With all the different classes, there is a lot more possibilities.

Umm, no. There aren't. Even without the 1.13 mod, JA2 is 1000x the tactical game D:OS is. With it, 1,000,000x.

And different classes? Temple of Elemental Evil employs the D&D3.5 ruleset. Enough said.

D:OS feels more like Diablo outside combat. The combat phase feels more like the Heroes series.

I wonder why that is...? Maybe if people didn't let the threads spill onto the system board that wouldn't be the case.
