could I still run the game? 500 is required, but I only have 256.
crummy old card, I know. skyrim, by the way.

If you run out of VRAM the game will slow to a standstill, so I would guess it's not the best idea. Maybe with one of those crazy "ultra low textures" mods.

Which card are you using?

Why not just upgrade your graphics card? There are plenty of cheap 512MB and 1GB cards out there now. Some of them worth less than $50 USD.

You know mods make things HARDER to run, unless it's a "dumb something down" one...right? If you're already below the requirements for the base game...

That wasn't a recommendation, it was an idle speculation. If your PC has that weak of a GPU then it will likely struggle all around. The low texture mods make the game almost unbearable to look at, they're just a curiosity.

Using actual mods on top of that will make the situation much worse.

If your card doesn't meet MINIMUM requirements, don't bother. Especially an open world game like Skyrim, it will hardly be playable.

Hmmm, that's a bit vague. Do you really not know which model it is?
