Starbound hasn't had a significant update in months.

I just want to go ahead and take the time to say...LOL

The context thatís missing here is that unlike many early access games, the game is already fully playable, and although it doesnít have everything we want to put in it yet (which is whatís holding it back from a 1.0 release) I feel we could have released what we currently have AS 1.0, outside of early access.

They did get what they were offered by pre-ordering, that is, the company developing the game. The Beta is really something incidental, as I said, the explicit reason they always offered the pre-order was to fund the development of the game.

Gamestop isn't obligated to offer refunds on pre-orders either and, IIRC, they only give you store credit for them.

And these were the announcements:

This isn't anything until it's in the game. 8 months without a stable update.

Most Betas don't even get stable updates.

Except for pretty much all of them. Betas are usually for bug fixing.

But that's not what I meant. No updates to the stable branch of the game. Only betas for a beta.

Which is exactly why most of them don't get stable updates. I've been doing beta tests for a long time(Since Earth and Beyond, way back in the early 00's). They don't do a stable build and an unstable build, they only do a beta build, and that is always unstable.

I'm not sure what you're trying to argue now.

No substantial updates to the stable branch of the game in 8 months.

Jesus, just go away.

I was using the ambiguous "they" as a stand in for "the industry". I wasn't referring to Chucklefish. I shouldn't have to explain this, because of the context of the paragraph I had stated I was referring to "most video game companies".

It is not standard for companies to release a "stable branch". Just a singular Beta build, which is by definition, unstable.
