It should be okay for that. I mean it is an acer...but it is also 250 bucks. It's quite hard to argue with. I've actually been looking at one of these low end things for a writing machine. If you get it let me know how you like it!

I don't think so, my netbook has an E-350 @ 1.6ghz and it's much weaker than that CPU. I can watch youtube videos in 720p no problem, so he should be fine.

Seems very poor, especially when 70 dollars more gets you a I-7 4770k.
