The popular hyper evo 212.

Do I need to do something to clean off the old thermal paste before applying the new stuff or no?

I have rubbing alcohol.

And whiskey.

Rubbing alcohol is fine. Drink the whiskey while doing it for increased awareness and dexterity

what? no! don't clean off the thermal paste!

I promise you, it'll work just as well as the Arctic Ripoff you no doubt purchased to go with it.

Or the thermal paste that comes with it...

Clean it off and reapply.

Yeah rubbing alcohol is one of the normal things to clean it off. I find coffee filters work pretty well for cleaning it off.

Some roads you shouldn't go down because maps used to say there'd be dragons there. Now they don't, but that don't mean the dragons aren't there.

Um, pretty sure the TC was talking about the old thermal pastes from the stock cooler and not the one on the Hyper 212.
