I think soundtracks are a big part of one's enjoyment from a game. If they're good enough, they can carry the entire experience and mood of the game much better than the graphics or the writing.

Over the past few weeks I have been listening to :

Castlevania Lords of Shadow soundtrack (gothic melodies in a grand fashion)
Assassins Creed 2 soundtrack (one of my personal favorites)
Frozen Synapse soundtrack (really euphoric, electronic music)
Civilization series soundtrack(s) (charming, relaxing, different civilizations have their own character)
Need for Speed 3 Hot Pursuit (one of the best electronic soundtracks in gaming)

FFIX- probably one of the best I've ever heard. So many tastefully done pieces. You are not alone is probably the best piece I've heard in a game.

Spyro- What more is there to say.

Oddworld 1-2- Awesome pieces. Very powerful at times.

Muramasa Rebirth- Not all of it was amazing but it had very well composed pieces.

Ys1- If you've ever played it then you know what I'm talking about...them caves man!

Chrono Trigger- Honestly the music is the only reason I'm playing this game. It's absolutely fantastic!

Action speaks louder than words. But words, when used right, overwhelm any action - Me, 2006

Many games have good soundtracks, but I think there is only one soundtrack to rule them all.
