What was the Golden Age of PC Gaming?

Everybody always talks about the "Golden Age of Gaming" as being something related to a particular generation of consoles, with everybody always arguing back and forth over which generation was the best and why, but then that makes me wonder... what was the Golden Age of Gaming for PC gamers?

PC, much like the Persians, is always on a Golden Age.

IMO, the 90's. I was in high school back. When I found out about games like DOOM and such, I immediately asked my mom if we could save up and get a computer. I was awed by the graphics and gameplay. Had an old Packard Bell as our first computer.

I was feeling bitter and was gonna post early 90s-early 2000s as well... but then I noticed the Hearthstone adventure thing and a new episode of Walking Dead Season 2 is coming out tomorrow.
