That's probably what they mean: a unified backend with a UI to fit each device.

Or we could just continue to immediately say "DOOOOOM!" Whatever works for you.

First response is what I approached this to mean.

Second response is what I expected everyone to react with.
Logic is the antithesis of faith, else why is it that faith defies logic while logic denies faith?

@post #3.. You really didn't understand what you just read.

And how did you understand it?

It sounds like to me, they want One Windows to rule them all. A version of windows that is the same on Tablets, Phones, and PC's. Obviously that means it'll have to have touch controls. Sounds like this'll be Windows 8 v2.0.
What I'm interpreting this announcement as is being able to run x86 desktop apps on my phone. And the XBOX becoming essentially a small form factor PC, which means no more console exclusives. Nothing would thrill me more than being able to play Halo & Forza on PC, or being able to really say that I'm literally carrying a PC in my pocket. What you see as bad news I see as very good news. I can't wait.

Some roads you shouldn't go down because maps used to say there'd be dragons there. Now they don't, but that don't mean the dragons aren't there.
