How is King's Bounty?

I'm thinking of perhaps sinking more time into Legend, but there's three things I already don't like:

1) The tutorial had me fighting a dragon, first up. I don't like it when games put me up against traditionally end-game enemies in a tutorial, surrounded by gold and j00lz, and then I faceroll them. It really doesn't bode well for the rest of the game. Why can't you have me fighting rats with a rusty dagger instead of up against a legendary creature and I'm on mounted cavalry with a lance, and this Knight with me is going 200 crit dmg. It doesn't look like you can skip the tutorial...

2) Don't like the graphics, they're too "casino cartoony". Units seem difficult to distinguish, the cam isn't quite 360 degree rotatable, which annoys me.

3) I'm underwhelmed by the sound and music, specifically combat sounds lack a meaty punch to them.

In light of the tactical RPGs I've played, and I've played the best, I don't see this series as being for me.

How have you guys found it?

The game completely fails at being an RPG, just think of the game as a regular turn based tactics game like Elven Legacy or something, and you'll probably see it in a bit of a different light.

Yep, this is getting uninstalled, not sure how it got critically acclaimed.

I much preferred the original Kings Bounty from 1990. Precursor to the HoMM series without the turn-based world map. One of my favorite games growing up, and I still go back and give it a play through every now and again.
