I was wanting to get a decent graphics card for a custom build and I think the GTX 660 would be best for me. This is my first time building a computer though so I don't have much insight as to which manufacturers are reliable. I found this card on Newegg and I think it's the best deal on a new GTX 660. What do you guys think?

Also if I had to get a cheaper graphics card, would the GTX 750ti be the best alternative?

I would consider AMD graphics cards but I plan on using Linux and I have heard that Nvidia has much better support for it.

You could pick up a used 760 GTX for about $200 on Amazon if you want to go the used route.

Gigabyte

For AMD (in order):

It's not better but people don't trust used cards from eBay

Wow the 660's are really getting cheap now, but Im not surprised with the 8 series around the corner. I actually bought a 650 for the wifes computer on black Friday that was right around $100. Would have loved a 660 at this price then.

Its a fine mid rage card TC. Don't expect to be maxxing out every new game.

And yes the 660 you selected will be more powerful then a 750.

The weakest card I would consider for gaming is a GTX 650ti or 750ti. Stay away from the non TI versions when you get down to this tier of card.
