Right. And the old definition was built by hard working gamers with a passion for Rogue.

And it's just that, the old definition. The industry has changed it to include other things since some of what defined rogue was really caused by hardware limitations of the time. It's like arguing with an 18th century person over the definition of cool. Things change.

There are so many people here confusing the terms

There is a difference. Rogue Lites are the indie rogues which mix casual with hardcore so it doesn't scare consumers away, like Rogue-Legacy, FTL, Binding of Isaac.

Rogue Likes are the classic rogues. Dwarf Fortress, Nethack, ToMe etc.

roguelikes are TYPICALLY turn based

doesn't mean that every rogue like has to be turned base

get your head out of your ass and try to think for yourself for once

Um this. RPGs have evolved. Do we call Dark Souls a hack and slash? No. There are many many different kinds of strategy games and RPGs. Why can't Roguelike be the same? There are many different kinds of Roguelike games and if you want to put a sub genre into Roguelike than we'll just go with Roguelite.

Also Dungeons of the Endless is a traditional Roguelike, So atleast I got one right.

Dungeon Crawl: Stone Soup right

Where can you play this game? I'll check it out.

Why do people need to call it a genre it isn't?

I said sub genre...

You eat the world, or the world eats you. Either way, it's okay.

Crypt of the Necrodancer and Nuclear Throne are interesting rogue likes that have not been mentioned.

Because it's not the same. It's not a sub genre for you and your casual friends to crap up.

I don't particularly like any other berlin roguelikes more than the rest for PC. Although Dwarf Fortress tops those, I exclusively play Fortress mode, which is not a roguelike.

To the people arguing about the definition, a panel of developers did actually sit down and iron out the definition of a roguelike:
