Why are my Steam games not letting me play them?

The only one that works is Garry's Mod and Star Wars Battlefront 2. The others nothing happens when I click play.

What have you done to try to remedy your issues thus far?

Have you done something recently that might have caused this? Without knowing what you did there's no way to say what it is exactly

HOWEVER: The last time I experienced something similar, I had just moved all my games from one HD to the next and I had previously used a program to clear off all the extra install junk from the HD. The end result was that where steam would normally just reinstall every game as I tried to play it, it didn't have the necessary files to do so and then would just do nothing.

SO either you should verify the cache to see if that puts those necessary files back, OR reinstall the game from scratch because sometimes the cache thing turns up no files missing.

That's all I can suggest without knowing exactly what you did.

The issue started when I switched accounts. I had two accounts tied to different emails. I can't remember anything about the email that I used to the account that had a majority of my games on, so I used the account with my main email.

I was going to joke that it's because you haven't praised GabeN enough today, but with the absolutely shameful flood of crap Steam has been revelling in lately, Valve isn't worth the praise.

This...

Why in the hell do you have more than one account where you buy games on even?

You can't remember the email? You're going to have to contact steam support, then you're going to have to do a bunch of stuff to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that you are the person who owns that other account, and then after probably 2 months of back and forth, they'll fix it so your account is on an email you can remember.

Seriously though... Did you make the steam account with a throwaway email? How could you forget it?

I hope you didn't buy a bunch of games on that other account.

I think I remember hearing something similar to this. If I remember correctly you have multiple steam accounts on one HDD it will detect all the games and show them in your list but obviously the only way to play them is to log onto the account that actually has them tied to it.

If you can't remember the email details but have a cd key/receipt for a game you bought around the time you created the account that can help with contacting steam support to get it sorted out(prove you are the owner). You might be able to use a credit card that you used on the account to prove its yours as well but I am not sure if that would even work.

Alright thanks, I was really curious why they showed up on this account, but I bought Skyrim on this account and it's not even letting me play that? I bought it on the other account to, so I have no idea what's going on with that game.

I was never expecting to be able to actually play them, I was just surprised that the other games I bought with the other account was still there. If I can't get the other games back it's of no major loss probably around $35 worth of games.
