Will I Lose Quality??

#1Darkness3389Posted 7/30/2014 2:17:16 AM
I have a laptop that display 768p and I'm getting a new TV that is going to be 1080p. If I connect my laptop to the T.V. via HDMI cable and use the T.V. as an extended display, if I play a movie that is 1080p from my laptop to the T.V. will there be a loss in quality? Also what if I start the video on the laptop then move it over to the T.V. screen....will it automatically adjust or stay 720p and I would have to start the video on the T.V. first?

I think it won't. I'm not certain, but...
I think the movie would downscale itself to 720p on the original monitor and just stay the same on the new monitor. If you hook it up later, then you'd have to change the resolution on your screen to match the new tv if it doesn't auto adjust, iirc.

Thanks I have another question. When the laptop is opened it's two separate screens with the T.V. being one and the latpop being one. When I close the laptop everything that was on the laptop screen moves to the T.V. screen. Does the T.V. still keep 1080p resolution or will I have to keep the laptop opened to keep both resolution separate? I know this question sounds a bit weird lol.

The TV will always be able to go up to 1080p. It will never change. xD
