What do you consider to be the first "next-generation" game for the PC?

Whatever first REQUIRES an 860 series nvidia GPU (or AMD equivalent) to even run.

This is without mods.....

I'm still surprised how much better it looks than games that came out recently.

Depends on your definition of Next-gen.

If we're talking about a game exclusive to the next-gen, i would answer The Witcher 3 too.

Watch_Dogs would also be a valid answer if it weren't for all that happened (People should blame last-gen consoles, not current-gen ones), but even with that mod it doesn't look that good (Or maybe i've already seen better looking titles than the footage at E3 (The Witcher 3).

I don't remember the last 720p 30 fps PC game.

Was 720p ever even standard for PC? 1080p's been around since 06 or so and before that wasn't it all just 1280x1024?

As I recall.. having only recently dumped my CRT.
We went to 1600 x 1200, then for some odd reason dropped to 1920 x 1080 and have been stuck there ever since.

I think Outlast was the first game that got a PC release along with "next gen" consoles while NOT getting a release on PS3/360 (last gen consoles)

IMO, new major DirectX/OpenGL is the closest PC comes to "generations"
