Im not sure if you can get these for digital copies or not but the Myst series is awesome. They maske you think really hard.

I'm looking for games kind of like Dragon Age: Origins, where almost all encounters posed a threat and required you to think.
It is also important that they're aren't easier alternatives (grinding in RPG's, or just going guns ablazing in stealth games). When I lose, I don't want to keep on pondering if I should take the easier path.

once you know how they like to implement the puzzles they are very straight forward
I forget how to solve at least half the puzzles every time I play, so the game never gets old for me.
