Really? No offline steam?

Actually, I've had my internet cut out completely for hours, and played Steam in offline mode by switching to that after the fact.

Some games you can run by going into the Steam folder and clicking on their .exe icon. I wish you could do that with all games but some of them don't like people buying games.

There's the official support article on exactly what is necessary to do offline mode, and like others have said, if you have no internet connection it'll try to connect and then when it fails it will let you do offline mode...it just assumes that your internet is coming right back and waits patiently at first...

This hasn't been true for a very long time. There was a bug in Steam a couple years ago that caused this behaviour but it was fixed a long time ago. Nowadays the only requirements for offline mode are
1) Save your password/enable auto-login
2) Launch the game at least once while you're online after installing it.

well its been a few years since i used steams offline mode so i apologize for giving wrong info, sorry guys!
