Thinking of switching Internet Provider, need opinions

I've been with Windstream for years on years. I've never had a problem with them.

Now, things have changed we went from

2 Desk Tops
1 Lap Tops
1 PS3

to now;

4 Desk Tops
2 Lap Tops
2 PS3

It's reached the point when I go online with my PS3, I can jump into any online game and I just won't be able to move, and when I finally get to all I can do is walk about 3 feet over and over again.

Now, I can't really tell anyone to stay off of things like Netflix and such since we all pitch in for the Internet, what I've noticed is once someone gets on Netflix, I just can't game online. Computers can't really be dropped either since we've got 3 College Students.

I was thinking maybe Cable Internet like Timewarner might be able to help out? Or is there anything I can do to boost internet signal or something?

Why don't you go take a jog? Better yet, go kick some rocks.

Get a nice router that supports QOS, give priority to games.

Windstream? Satellite internet, IIRC.

Switch to cable.

Could you recommend one? Sorry, I'm not much of a tech guy. Windstream updated their little modem things to what looks like a wireless router. Because of it, we no longer use the Netgear router we have. Would I still be able to hook up another Wireless router to it?

That's what I'm wanting to do, I just want to make sure it'd benefit my online gaming. O.o

Cable > Satellite for anything online, period.

That's the plan, Sir.

Would you recommend a Gaming Router even with Cable Internet?

No wonder you're lagging, satellite has horrible latency. The Asus n16 is a decent router which can be flashed to dd-wrt or Tomato.

I'm surprised you were able to game with satellite Internet in the past.

I gamed on a 1.5mbps ADSL connection with no problems in any game including WoW and that's a lot slower than satellite internet.
