I'm surprised you were able to game with satellite Internet in the past.

I gamed on a 1.5mbps ADSL connection with no problems in any game including WoW and that's a lot slower than satellite internet.

ADSL doesn't have to go to space and back.

Back when I had AT&T ADSL it was fine...The reason why AT&T DSL sucked was because it was AT&T, not because it was DSL.

The speed wasn't the fastest but at the time 5Mbps seemed like a lot to me so I didn't care. My ping was always around 50ms which is fine and I rarely had problems that a quick reset couldn't fix and it only took me a second to reset things. Satellite is fine when all you want to do is download, but anything involving upload or latency and you can just forget it.

If TC lives in an area where TWC actually has to compete (for a change!) then he'll get awesome speeds. If he lives in an area where the only competition is crap, well... it'll still be better than crap.

I don't know where you live, but Verizon FIOS for me is blazing fast. I just ran a test and am getting 58 mbps.

TWC. We had issues on phone/tv/internet with them for like 3 months, they were coming out literally every other day. Finally, they said f*** it, brought out like 10 trucks, and redid my whole neighborhood. Free internet for like a year, and channels, and other stuff. Those speeds aren't inflated either, we pay for 50/5, we get more than that, and I DL usually around 6.7-7MB/s.

My point is, they served us well, and their internet has been reliable once they got the wiring fixed. I recommend them, though I am aware many have sh** times with them.

Seriously, people?

Windstream is NOT satellite. Windstream is a phone company and the internet service they sell is DSL. I have their bottom tier service, and it sucks. They won't upgrade my lines without charging me $10K for the privilege, and there is no competition in the area aside from satellite.

If you can switch to cable, TC, you will have potential access to much more bandwidth, thus allowing people do do stuff at the same time on your network. Of course, you will have to pay more to get more.
