I'll just bust out my 3DO and play it on that.

The 3DO version sucks though. The ground missions are missing, most enemies have a lower polygon count, some in-flight movies are missing, etc.

The PSX version is a bit better, but still inferior to the PC version.

Is it worth the 1.8gb download?

Or is it just another sorta ok FMV game from the 90's?

Its an amazing game IF you like games like X-WING.

The FMV scenes are actually very good, with branching dialogues and very good acting (specially Mark Hamill). The action part is amazing, the ships are very responsive, some boss fights are AMAZING and the explosions are very good. ^^

The game is quite challenging, but there are 5 or so difficulty levels and even a built-in invincible mode.

Wow. The game is 1.8GB. Did they even have that much space in 1994? That must have killed their HDD.

Your problem is you've spent your whole life thinking there are rules. There aren't. We used to be gorillas.

I bought the game when it first came out (or it was bought for me, whichever) and if I recall correctly it came on 3 CD's.

Need something to play after a terrible Dota 2 match so thanks...Oh, it's one of those old games...Still gonna try it though.

"old game?" Some of the best games are from 14-18 years ago.

Back then, most PC games on CDs didn't have to be fully installed. Usually, a game like this installs something like 30 or so MBs, but constantly reads the data from the CDs, that needed to be on the drive constantly.

the max a CD can hold is about 700 MB unless it's not built to the red book standard, and if it wasn't, many CD drives wouldn't be able to read it (the Dreamcast used CDs that were not made to the red book standard which is why a lot of folks couldn't just rip them in their PC's optical drives)
