The worst game engine?

#1Futureops-Posted 8/8/2014 12:18:44 PM
Recently, I have played many games that were badly ported and had low resolution texture. My least favorite is Frostbite 3 (because of the greyish texture effect) but I think Havok is the worst engine ever used to make a good game (Dark Souls, Dark Souls II). Dark Souls was nearly impossible for me to play on PC (for 2 bugs at the start) but Havok is good for consoles.

Havok is a physics engine. I have a suspicion you aren't aware of this.

Maybe we need a clarification on what you consider a "game engine?" (TC, not cranky.)

Havok is a physics engine and not really a "Game" engine.

Apparently the Wikipedia for Dark Souls lists Havok as its game engine.

The f^&%?

So does Dark Souls II, even tho there are LOADS of articles out there about how they had to build a new game engine from scratch for DSII. I guess with stupidity like that out there on Wikipedia, combined with everyone's tendency to just accept whatever it says, I can at least understand why the TC would be confused...

I am a newbie (Playing video games from the age of 8). I am now 14, I dont know much about engines, as far as I know, each game uses 1 engine (Crysis uses CryEngine, BF uses Frostbite, 2K mostly uses Unreal Engine) so is there anything more I should know about these engines?

BTW I have used Unity, Unreal Engine and CryEngine but gave up learning how to use them to make games.
