CK2: As Pagan, what is the advantage of concubines if it is all gavelkind?

#1Forever ShadowedPosted 8/8/2014 5:15:15 PM
I just restarted and I was a newbie to begin with so sorry for the dumb question.

Since succession is gavelkind, exactly what is the advantage of having concubines? I imagine the only purpose of concubines is = more kids. But, more kids = more your titles get split on succession.

So what is the reason to even have concubines?
If there's anything more important than my ego around, I want it caught and shot now.

If all your concubines have good genetic trails like Genius, Strong or Attractive, you have a better chance of having at least one kid with one of those traits. I think you might also get some extra prestige for having more concubines, but I'm not 100% sure.

Other than that, I can't think of any other benefits either. Keep in mind that you'll still have the ability to take concubines even after you reform the religion and gain access to other succession laws, though.
