Is a 2.5GHz quad-core i7 laptop for $2,500 a good deal? It's a Mac.

It is a MacBook Pro. How much would it cost to build these specifications on a PC:

2.5GHz quad-core Intel Core i7
Turbo Boost up to 3.7GHz
16GB 1600MHz memory
512GB PCIe-based flash storage 1
Intel Iris Pro Graphics
NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M with 2GB GDDR5 memory
Built-in battery (8 hours)2

You could probably buy the Asus Equiv laptop for less than half of that and possibly get more power or at least the same. Alienware could probably give you a better deal than that and that's saying something.

That's a $1000.00 pc laptop at best. Probably less. That graphics card is super weak.

I'd love to see a thin, light laptop with a high resolution screen, an 8-hour battery life, a quad-core Intel CPU with Iris Pro, 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD for <$1000.

I doesn't have 8 hour battery life. Well maybe if it was just idling for 8 hours with the screen off. I doubt you could find one for 1000 but that lappy is crap for 2500 and nobody can argue that.

Except it does last 8 hours, and not idle either. Not necessarily with a heavy load, of course not when gaming, but for office work, it lasts that.
Find me a laptop with comparable specs (across the board) for a lot less money than that.

It's crap if all you care about is the CPU and GPU but every laptop is crap relative to a desktop if you only care about the CPU and GPU. There are so many more other things that are important in a laptop. That's why comparable laptops like the high end Asus axe books also cost $2000+.

You literally said nothing. "There are so many more other things that are important in a laptop."

I know there's so many my head is literally boggled by how many examples you gave.....oh wait.

Give me a reason this laptop is worth 2500 dollars.
