desktop icons moving every time I shutdown

#1Xantose161Posted 8/11/2014 1:32:05 PM
For some reason, a few weeks ago, my lenovo laptop that I got a few months ago started rearranging desktop icons that are moving i think everytime i turn it off. Basically it seems like the resolution shrinks or something, because the bottom icons get pushed to the top kind of like if you changed the resolution or something, but its not the same each time. Sometimes only one row of icons gets pushed up and sometimes its up to 3 or 4 rows. I can't figure out whats happening. I don't think its a virus, because i checked malewarebytes and never really seen a virus do this type of thing. I unchecked change icons with theme, but it keeps doing it and I don't know why. It is windows 8.1. Anyone know of whats wrong? I would appreciate the help.

This happens to me in Windows 7 as well. I'm not sure why it happens, but it's not a big deal to me.

Happens to me in Win7 too. Best I've been able to figure, it happens when it's not shutdown right. I've just said, F it, and stopped rearranging them.

hmm weird, didnt know this was such a common problem. I would have figured someone would of had a solution to this by now. Well as long as its just windows and not a virus or anything I can live with it.

it might resize if you plug in a monitor or projector.

I haven't ever plugged that laptop into a monitor or projector so I'm confident it's not that.

Hope that solves the issue. I've had a very similar issue that this trick fixed.
