SecuROM isnt causing any issues its something else, anyone who blames crap on secuROM cant reproduce the effect on the exact same setup its 100% a myth.

are you actually defending a buggy DRM service?

Yes cause 90% of problems reported blamed on secuROM and other DRM are faults of someone being an idiot and installing a virus or faulty hardware.

>Sony had to create a diagnostic tool to help people fix problems caused by SecuROM, yet SecuROM doesn't cause any problems.

Well I don't have Origin running (only thing I even have downloaded from it now is Peggle, for my gf), I'm on Windows 7 Ultimate, and I don't have an active internet connection so using websites on my PC is currently impossible.

I'm wanting to believe it was Sims, but I may still be wrong.

Is your computer actually shutting down, or are the games you're playing just suddenly crashing/closing?

It was just closing some games (like Skyrim) and notably it was crashing Sims 2, but only that one game would actually crash (asking to send error reports and saying it stopped working).

He is correct though. There's a disturbing lack of repeatable proof that things like Starforce, Securrom, and others caused issues.

While correlation does not imply causation, the amount of anecdotal evidence is astounding, though throwing that aside (as it is anecdotal) SecuROM has however been proven to cause numerous issues with the games it's used with. The original Borderlands was a classic example of this; just google "borderlands general protection fault".

Starforce is even worse, and we can at least agree that even if it can't be proven without a doubt that these programs directly cause issues with other programs, they definitely do so with the games themselves, which is inexcusable.

tl;dr SecuROM and Starforce are so bad that you literally get punished for not pirating games that use them
