I wonder how long it will be before we start getting borderless monitors

I've always been fascinated by dual monitors, and triple monitors(in fact I'm using a dual monitor right now, though they are on 2 different levels), but the one thing that turned me off about them is when you play a game that uses the triple monitor set-up, you are forced to have this big black bar between the screens, even on the most slim border monitors, there is still this divide that breaks it up a bit.

And I could get a wider monitor, but I just think the look of 3 single monitors just looks better than one of those curved monitors. I just wonder, when will they take the next step and try to remove those frames altogether?

Some companies it seems have started to do this, but when will it become a standard?

Too much time on my hands when I'm not sleeping at night....think I need some sleep....

Projectors.

I think the current technology of monitors would prevent bezeless monitors from ever being a reality, but I'm no expert on that. The best your likely going to get, I'd say, is a monitor with an ultra-thin bezel.

Ultra wide monitors look neat.

When you're playing a game, especially if you're enjoying it and are engrossed, you completely forget about the bezels/borders, trust me.

But yeah....... I know what you mean, it would be nice if those bezels were completely gone.

People have actually removed the bezels from their monitors (DIY, of course), you can find pics on the hard forums.

I'm surprised there's not a software solution yet. It seems easy to do considering you could just render the video but not display it based on a dead zone calibration. Not perfect, but at least lines would run straight across monitors.

I don't really like curved screens for some reason. It just doesn't look right.....

The only time I'd need a monitor without a bezel is if I was going to do multiple monitors in game... Otherwise it's not a big deal... I think I'd rather have a cool projector on some kind of custom curved screen for an "Omni theater" style experience than worry about 3 monitors and whether or not the bezels get in the way.

Maybe once flexible OLED panels become common? Even then I doubt they'll completely get rid of the bezel.
