is it possible to share my internet connection via bluetooth?

#1auginistePosted 8/17/2014 6:56:48 PM
i currently don't have a Wi-Fi router, but i have a bluetooth dongle available. I was wondering if it's possible to share my desktop's internet connection to android/ios devices using bluetooth? thanks in advance!

and please don't link me to a router. i came here to ask for something of a workaround. i'd buy one if it's the best option on-hand, trust me. but odds are, it's not. but thanks anyway.

Bluetooth can't do that. Its not made for that. A router is meant to do what you are looking for.

it probably is though.

i guess you prefer a complicated bluetooth setup with a range of 8 feet from your desktop. might as well just use your desktop

I would assume so, probably not a good idea, but probably possible.

It's possible, good luck figuring it out on android though, this is literally one of those situations where nobody thinks it's a good idea.

Latency, speed, and range are all horrible on blue tooth. Buy a second wireless card that supports software access point, such as the Asus pce-n15.

hey wyze! been going through a lot lately, and i havent had the time to log into steam. o____o..
but btw, it's mainly for office use, wi-fi connectivity is nonexistent in here, and a bluetooth setup is the only thing that i can go with. i think. don't want to waste mobile data here, plus, the coverage is somewhat abysmal. so, yeah.

i read somewhere that you can share lan connection via bluetooth, hence, the idea.

Yeah, the thing is that it's a lot more common to share your connection the other way.

This will show you how, good luck.
