Nvidia has said it uses Directcompute, not PhysX. Should leave the door open for AMD.

Well if it's up to nvidia then that basically will mean no. Doubt they will let their competition enjoy new tech if they have a say in it.

Is that like the water tech in Just Cause 2 at all? Or does 'CUDA enhanced' mean something else entirely?

HairWorks is part of nvidia GameWorks. I'm pretty sure all solutions within GameWorks work on any hardware. Only PhysX requires nvidia gpus.
