Was checking out a CS:GO stream from a 'renouned' player

"Yea, you guys watching out there, you need to run this game at, at least 300fps if you want to have an edge"

Me: "Hey what's the refresh rate on your monitor?"

"60hz"

Me: "So you have a magic monitor that shows 240 more frames than it's capable of displaying?"

"It says 300fps in my console bro, you can't be good unless you're at least 300"

*Meanwhile, the entire chat is asking where they can find 300fps monitors and I'm getting flamed*

Was I wrong?

Lmao, how can a moron get so renowned.

Besides, any player at that level would have a 120hz monitor.

While you were watching his stream, did he happen to give out any tips that involved, you know, actual skill? Or was it all along the lines of obvious stuff like 'more frames allow you to be more responsive than less frames'?

renouned, verb

past tense of renoun

to use the same noun multiple times in a single sentence

ex: "He threw the grenade and I took that grenade to the face!"
"John, why you do renoun so much? It's redundant!"

In the past, well even now, it was fairly common for game mechanic updates to be tied to the framerate. Even now there are games that tie physics updates to framerate (Dead Space games, all of Bethesda's games) or mouse control (Crysis 2 and 3 IIRC, some unreal games as well I think). Even aiming in BF4 can feel sluggish if your FPS is low, so I prefer to keep the FPS unrestricted, rather than limited at 60
