Additionally having your framerate locked at very specific settings in Call of Duty four could give you substantial advantages over the other players.

For example, with 333 FPS you could bounce off specific spots and reach what are normally "Unreachable" locations in the map and make use of otherwise impossible routes.

Framerates higher than your refresh rate might not *display* any faster than your refresh rate, but I'll admit there is still a greater sense of precision and control with higher framerate. It's not all 100% about the visuals...

for call cods, actually.

in bo2, if you limit your fps in between 121-124, you can run faster and jumper higher and your guns shoot a bit faster.

I want a 120fps monitor, but Im afraid that it'll ruin my eyes being used to 60fps or 45fps games

And reasons like this are why FPS are always superior on consoles. For the simple reason that on consoles, it is significantly harder to cheat.

Sure, because online console games like Halo have *never* been plagued by cheaters.

When looking at the competitive field, he has a point. Everyone is running the game on the same hardware, OS, and using the same input device. It creates an even playing field that puts an emphasis on player skill.

It's used to speed run Dishonored, too. They run the game on powerful systems with the game at lowest settings so they can do corner climbs faster. There's actually only 1 skip you can do on the consoles that you can't do in a regular PC run, because they can't get the game to run slowly enough on their rigs to do the trick.
