I'm currently using a cheap kitchen chair and a $5 unknown brand keyboard.

I'd say chair. Although it's very nice to have a mechanical keyboard, it's something you can easily live without. If you're sitting on your chair for long extended periods of times, sitting on a rock hard chair can really make your ass uncomfortable.

$5 keyboards work virtually identically to $50 ones. The same cannot be said for chairs.

A good chair is far more important that a mechanical keyboard.
A bad chair can make it difficult to work or play from it being uncomfortable at best to giving you various physical problems at worst.

Having improper posture due to sitting too high or low, the arms on the chair being too high or too low can thrown your back, shoulders and/or wrists out of alignment and cause discomfort or pain and if you continue to sit in such a manner can cause joint problems down the road.

I voted mechanical keyboard on accident, a comfortable chair is far more important than the keyboard.

Gotta agree with a new chair. Having used several poor quality chairs over the years and suffering back pain from it, buying a nice quality chair helped me a lot more than a keyboard would have.

I voted chair too. It will pay off more in the long run to be comfortable at your computer. I've used $20 keyboards before and were perfectly happy with the way they performed. A chair is worth it more if you sit for extended periods in front of your PC. Only my opinion though, do what makes you happy.

I would go for the chair first. I mean, being comfortable and avoiding backpain/injury is pretty important.

I really like using mechanical keyboards, but I can get by better with a cheap keyboard than I can sitting on a cheap, hard, uncomfortable chair.

Go for the chair. A more expensive keyboard is not worth the literal pain in the ass.
