Do yourself a favor and get a PS4 and TLoU or he'll even a PS3 will work but it's inferior in every way.

Don't tell me about how it isn't on PC, are you a gamer or not?

If you want something that will make you question games these days look at FFIX, I know it's turn based but whatever, it's not that bad. The character development is absolutely unparalleled in any other form of media I've touched. It's old but you know what they say? dealwithit. I'd suggest using a Vita for that game.

Another adventure game you must play that IS on PC is to the moon. Damn the graphics all day long but it's story is one of the best I've ever seen put forth.

Do what you will with this information.

So because I don't have $300 or so to spare on a system I'll barely play, I'm not a real gamer? Are you serious?

I'm a gamer alright, but I also have other things I wanna spend my cash on. My girlfriend for example.

A choice of playstyle without balance is no choice at all.

Gemini Rue fulfills everything you're asking for except the non 2d graphics.
It was a great experience.

If you haven't played it, then grim fandango, thank me later, I don't care if this does or doesn't fit what you're asking, if you're interested in the genre in the least, then you should probably consider this game.

No better time than the present.

I used to love the genre as a kid (all the sierra "quest" games, hell even this old commodore 64 game that took place on a ship... "master master, a rock fell on your head!.... GAMEOVER" )... but Grim Fandango made me fall in love with the genre.

The upcoming hi-def remake might be a better time.

I just mean the experience is well worth the money. Don't let petty things like money stand in the way of enjoying things.

At the minimal get FFIX. Just do it already!

Very doubtful. The reveal wasn't that long ago so it'll probably be awhile before anything is playable.

From wiki: A remastered release of Grim Fandango was announced in June 2014 during Sony Computer Entertainment's press event of the 2014 Electronic Entertainment Expo, to be released simultaneously for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux platforms. [blah blah blah]... Schafer was able to acquire the rights to the game with financial assistance from Sony, and started the process of building out the remaster within Double Fine Productions. In addition to his own developers, Schafer hopes to reach out to players who had created unofficial patches and graphical improvements on the original game, and gain their help to improve the game's assets for the remastered version.
