So I have a Acer V5 ultra book and since I had it the last 6 months off and on I have had wifi issues. My latest issue is I only get 4 bars 6 ft from my router. Go to my bed room 15 ft away and I get 2 bars and half the time internet won't work. Go in my basement and no chance. Though I have my PS4 50ft away in my basement downstairs and I get 5 bars and perfect internet.
Anyways I tried everything updated drivers. Took apart my laptop make sure the chip and antennas were didn't get loose and stop working.
My Acer V5 is known to be plagued with crapy wifi and issues. My wifi was fine for before which is confusing. I removed every windows update in the last month and also re installed current drivers
My issue is can I just buy a better wifi chip. And where can you buy them. I see them nowhere and not even Newegg has them.
Any help would be great.

Here is a thread on the Acer forums. Sound familiar?
I fix one problem and its good for months and then BOOM another issue happens.
I found some on amazon by searching for intel. Ya its a min or half wifi chip the one with 2 antennas.

Laptops in many cases have the antennae built into the bezel, sometimes they get crimped, check the antennae if you're comfortable peeling apart the bezel.
It's one of those things that even if you get a new chip the issue will prevail --- http://puu.sh/8IK8Q/8e25ebacb7.jpg - - http://steamsignature.com/profile/english/76561198039262606.png Wolves don't lose sleep over the opinions of sheep.

Easier just to get a USB dongle. --- Your problem is you've spent your whole life thinking there are rules. There aren't. We used to be gorillas.
