Wow. Max Payne 3 is ****ing abysmal.

Is this surprising? It wasn't developed by Remedy and doesn't have graphic novel segments.. of course it's terrible.

My big problem is getting to play it?

You know the "Initializing" screen where you need to sign into Social Club? Social Club won't load up for me. I can't play it. I've tried everything anyone's suggested, and man are there a lot of crazy ideas, including from Rockstar Support.

That happened to me, you need to delete some of your rockstar social club files so that it has to reacquire them and fix it.

I tried that.

the difference between MGS and MP3 is that one isn't an all-out action shooter... oh and not to mention that you can SKIP ALL SCENES in MGS.

my post about pretentious games from another board:

max payne 3 is up there.

never before has somebody been forced to sit through hours of cutscenes in what is supposed to be an all-out action shooter.

yes forced since the cutscenes were made as part of the engine or something which made the majority of them unskippable despite the bs loading icon stating otherwise.

The game is pretty good, but it's a completely different animal. The writing, most of the level designs, cinematography, and presentation are all very different. Rockstar really didn't capture the flavor of Max Payne. The gunplay and animations are fun though. Overall I was disappointed, but had some fun. Made me go back and replay to first two.

It had good ratings so I bought it in a Steam sale. I though the setting and visuals were pretty cool but only ended up playing it for a few hours before giving up on it.

Some games feel like everything there is to the game is already shown in the first hour you play it. After that, it is all just repeating the same thing over and over again with some story inbetween. Sometimes that works alright, if the game is not too long and the story element is strong enough (like Bioshock infinite for example). But with Max Payne 3, I was just entirely too bored to continue.

I went to the website to sign up and it turns out that the password requires a number and an upper case letter, neither of which were mentioned in the game sign up.

That's not true.... mine doesn't have either.

If they stayed in the New York/New Jersey area the whole game I'd have given it a 9/10. The Brazil levels were pretty lame so I give it a 7.5/10.

It was pretty good all in all.
