I have a 500 watt power supply.

What brand is it? I'm guessing its probably not certified. If this is the case then most likely that PSU wont do it.

According to the label it's this:

I'm pretty sure I threw out the box a while ago.

Alternatively, I could just buy the case, MOBO, Processor and ram, and just use my hard drive, power supply and GTX 275 until income taxes when I can get the video card and a better power supply.

Does that sound feasible?

hmmmm... That PSU looks like crap.... Never heard of the brand name..

Oh and yes that sounds feasible. Just note that your old card is Nvidia and your new one is AMD.

Yeah I know.

What about this power supply:

It's on sale for today, 760w, it's not modular though. Would that be bad?

Cougar makes awesome case fans but it seems like their PSU's are kind of lacking a little bit. People are saying it doesn't provide the actual 760W on that. Its actually 500W. So I would personally pass on it. I don't know why you need that much power anyways unless you plan on doing crossfire. If not then this one will be just fine.

Ok, so this is what I got:

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/gNLNYJ

Took off the Cooler, Hard drive and Speakers, added Windows 8, power supply and edited the case.

I can throw the cooler back on if it's highly recommended, I'll probably have to wait to get the RAM until next paycheck(I think I have about 6 gigs lying around here) with that. Otherwise that is pretty much exactly my price-range. I have an optical drive lying around I can throw in there too.

EDIT: Previous build was incorrect, this is the one I was going for.

Modular makes cable management slightly easier but honestly it shouldn't be a major factor. You'll probably plug in everything except like two cables anyway.
