Long story short: decided to buy cheap
dota laptop like 2weeks ago. Tried buying hp pavilion dv6:
one was with bluray and 6750m, other was with 7690m (people
owning these cards said that they manage to max out dota 2 on non-fhd/laptop resolutions...) Sadly both sellers wont ship em via safe mail you that have to buy out at post office... So now im back on drawing board, i added like 100$ to my budget and reviewed 1500models available... -_-

and noted few. I mostly tried searching for best Video card, i dont know how much is dota processor-intensive. Oh, and funnilly enough i could not find better alternatives to hd7690, even with bigger budget :(

1)asus x55 - i5 4200u (1.6-2.6ghz quad core), hd 4000+gt740m. 4gb ram only...

2)dell xps 17" - i5 2410m (2.3ghz), gt 555m 3gb, 8gb ram

3)hp envy 17 - i5 460m (cpu boss said it is
almost same as 4200u; hard to compare) 2.53ghz, hd 5850, 5gb ram

4) hp g6 - amd a8 4500m quad core 1.9-2.8 ghz, 5gb ram, 7670m+7640g

Oh, and there are other lappies with 7670m, but with other processors:

hp g7-2150sb has 8gb ram and hyperthreaded dual core (cpu boss said
it is better than a8 4500m) i5-3210m (2.5-3.1ghz)

and hp g6-20255r also has 8gb ram and dual core a6-4400m, 2.7-3.2 ghz

------

Idk if dota runs better with quad
or dual core proccessors, i cant access "can you run it" :D

which laptop is best for dota (they all are same price range)? Oh, and if someone could list then in order (best to worst) it would greatly help me, because
other seller might also not send them via mail *facepalm*, so i might have to choose option no.2 ...

as far as cards benchmarks go, i compared
em on notebookcheck (game debate said that 5850 is better than 740m?) and listed laptops by their gpu benchmarks:

630m<7670m<5850<6750m<=555m<7690m<=740m

is that right? Or maybe 5850 is the best gpu here?

" <= " means "better or the same"

For pc master race: i was about to build a new pc but saw all that ddr 4 and other cool stuff coming out soon with nvidia 8xx
series so i decided to buy cheaptop for portability now while i am waiting for
it....

@topic

are people voting for
dell because it has better resollution or because of 555m?

Like really: is it better to max out dota on some 1366x768p or to play med-high on 1600x900p?

No; really... According to notebookcheck 3d mark and same game fps benchmarks 740m seems stronger (its 2013year card)

dell has more ram (but you can add them on asus)... But asus has better processor, is it?

Can someone explain it to me? Does dota requires more ram than 4gb or it doesnt utilise 4cores as good?

What makes dell xps better? Is 555m stronger than 740? Or resolution?

Edit: whoops... Looks like seller tried to
fool
people -according to notebookcheck 4200u is dual core and
according to game debate it is only
little faster than i5 2410m..

Dell even has full hd (matte?) display and "great wifi connectivity" by 2011 standarts. And even backlit keyboard...

But notebookcheck havent complained
about x550l wi-fi, either. But the keyboard is "meh"...

I am actually
seeing the logic behind more ram, better resolution (crispy view, lower
fps?) in now. But isnt the better video card in samsung the most important thing?

I dont know...

Better, 1080p resolution and med-high settings vs lower res and high-ultra (probably ultra at that 768p res)...

Someone tell me what matters the most! :D

edit: wow, it turns out that 17 xps (notebookcheck) has 2nd best 555m version out of 5available...

Maybe this will provide
more fps than it was written in a review with different 555's...

Go for Asus G750

To play dota you don't need high specs.

To play and to play with eyecandy are different things... I was used to playing dota 2 on ultra and will try to get as close as possible as it hurts the gameplay (tried playing on minimum)...

Anyways, what is so special about asus g750 of yours? :)

Haha, good
one. That stuff costs 3grand....

My options cost like 10x less :D

anyways,
i need a real
answer. No alienwares. Macbooks or overpriced asus lappies that cost like 1000$ more than xotic pc 880m laptops....

Just tell me which laptop should i choose and why it is better than others XD

As long as Dota is all you're going to play, those are all fine. I wouldn't recommend anything on else them. Those are all multimedia graphics cards, not gaming cards and that 555m is 3 generations old and was weak to begin with.

Gamefaqs game rating system : 10 = Best Game Ever. 8-9. Crushing dissapointment. Below 8 :Total Garbage. This is getting ridiculous. people agreeing so far 117

If i were to buy a gaming laptop; would had bought 1300$ 870m one months ago :D

i checked
tomshardware forums,
it was said that dota isnt demanding
at all and game looks decently
on low and that it
doesnt require strong cpu at all, all of my cpu options are enough for smooth playing with good card
.

now, will full hd of dell
provide me
better field of view (it will help a lot more gameplay-wise)? That bugs me.

All laptops have cpu that is enough for dota. All can run dota on med-high; even ultra. Only one is full hd. Only one may max it at Its native 768p...
