recommended headsets with mics for gaming.

I wouldn't worry too much about brands. It seems you mostly pay for what you get, though you have to consider features like wireless and surround. I use sennheiser pc360s, and they are pretty amazing. I also recommend to get an actual headset if you plan on using voice. Standalone and clipon mics are horrible for gaming.

Uhh, your point? I'd probably get this: http://www.amazon.com/Zalman-Zm-Mic1-Sensitivity-Headphone-Microphone/dp/B00029MTMQ

Have you used one? There's a reason it's $8. It's one of the worst mics you can get.

Fix'd. There are good and bad stand alone microphones. There are acceptable and bad microphones built into headsets.

That's fine, but quality quickly becomes irrelevant. An acceptable mic on a headset is superior when you want to minimize all sounds other than your voice.

What? I've got one and it's fantastic beyond not having a mute button. It's one of the most popular clip on mics in the world for a reason , I've never seen anyone on any forum complaining about them being bad quality besides you
