Uhh, your point? I'd probably get this: http://www.amazon.com/Zalman-Zm-Mic1-Sensitivity-Headphone-Microphone/dp/B00029MTMQ

Have you used one? There's a reason it's $8. It's one of the worst mics you can get.

What? I've got one and it's fantastic beyond not having a mute button. It's one of the most popular clip on mics in the world for a reason , I've never seen anyone on any forum complaining about them being bad quality besides you

I've had that one. It's not that bad, but it definitely picks up everything sound in the room. The audio quality isn't bad, but the fact that it picks up everything makes it hard to use in a loud room.

I've used one and have talked to people while they used theirs. It is junk. Never came close to any other headset or mic I have used.

Right now I have the Antlion Modmic. While it's way better at not picking up sound in the room, I've never had anyone complain about the audio quality when I was using the Zalman mic. It was always the fact that they could hear everything else going on.

I got the Roccat Kave XTD. I like it a lot. The positional audio is spot on. It comes with a USB sound card, has multiple drivers and a bass module in each cup. It has nice features like Bluetooth connectivity to answer calls while gaming..

Fix'd. There are good and bad stand alone microphones. There are acceptable and bad microphones built into headsets.

That's fine, but quality quickly becomes irrelevant. An acceptable mic on a headset is superior when you want to minimize all sounds other than your voice.

That's exactly what condenser mics are for, and they sound infinitely better.

I advise avoiding headsets with mics.

Get a mic stand, get some headphones. Watch as you get years of lifespan out of them without any issues.

Combine the two and watch the headsets wiring break in 6 months.

My year old astro a40's say hello. Flawless performance since purchase and they sound excellent.

I honestly don't know, but it must take a team of groundskeepers three days to shave the entire surface area of Jackie Chan's balls.

I already have some decent headphones, and mic stands are pretty cheap.

those Sennheiser PC 360's seem nice though, and i'd rather have the mic strapped to my head.

are they comfy on your ears? big cups that cover the entire ear?

If you already have a decent pair of phones why spend $100 on another pair of cans when you can get the modmic for $45?

I grabbed a $12 headset from The Source (Canadian version of radioshack) like 3years ago and it still works great. I use it a lot, too.
