it just hit me yesterday that my passwords probably suck, and now i'm worried about having them easily guessed and stolen

i know this might be pretty basic stuff, but do you guys have any pointers as to how i should change them up?

Something that's alphanumeric with symbols. Of course, you'll want a password that only you would know.

Use a random password generator to make up complex passwords you would never remember, a different password for every account. Store those passwords in some kind of password database.
KeePass is an offline option, LastPass is an online option, both are free.
And for things to which you may want to log in from a location where you may not have access to your password database, use a password that you do memorize, keep a couple of variations of it for similar sites, and use two-factor authentication wherever possible.

alternatively you can use caesar cipher for your passwords too. You can do it by shifting as a whole or shifting differently per letter.
